Simplifying National Insurance for the Self Employed

Are you self employed?  Do you think that the way you pay your National Insurance Contributions could be simplified? HMRC is exploring whether it would be simpler and more straight-forward to collect National Insurance Contributions (NICs) alongside Class 4 NICs and Income Tax through the Self Assessment (SA) process, in an effort to reduce the administrative burden on self employed people.

If you are self employed, HMRC would like you to take part in the consultation.

Full details can be found here.  The closing date is 9 October 2013 and, based on the responses received, HMRC will review the current system of collecting Class 2 NICs.
